He Should Have Told the Bees by Amanda Cox

I really enjoyed the storyline of this book. It was pretty unique. It is a slower-paced story and that's fine for a relaxing read.

I enjoyed the portrayal of the two main characters, especially since they didn't come across as being perfect. There is a lot of undercurrent in the storyline. A lot of sadness and challenging topics to handle. I could relate to some of the problems presented. But, it took me some time to get used to the back and forth of the story flow between these two characters.

I also enjoyed learning some about beekeeping. That made the story more interesting. There were quite a few facts I didn't know and had me digging deeper to learn more.

What I did not enjoy was the editing. It needs more work. There were too many errors and it disrupted my concentration. I also did not like some of the repetitiveness of the story. Lastly, I did not like that there was not much about being a Christian in a Christian genre book.

Overall I give this a solid 3.5 star review. I would recommend it to a friend looking for an easy read.

Summer in the Spotlight by Liz Johnson

I requested to read and review this book through Revell Reads program. The following are my own opinions and freely given. I am not required to give a positive review.

When I asked for this book I wasn't sure if it was a sequel book or not but was pleasantly surprised that it was a following book from one I had read earlier, Beyond the Tides, Prince Edward Island Shores book 1. After reading this book, book 3, I wish I had read the second book. This book really kept my interest and the characters felt mostly real.

The story flowed very well and the characters were quite well developed. This is a Christian fiction but there was no hint of anything at all Christian until the last half of the book. So, it is definitely not preachy.

The editing was very well done. Nothing to interfere with the reading. This book kept my interest so well that I finished it quite quickly. I think if you enjoy clean, modern fiction you will enjoy this book.

I give this a solid 4-star rating and would recommend it to my friends.

Letters from My Sister by Valerie Fraser Luesse

This is a good, clean, historical fiction book. It is listed as Christian but that seemed to be a bit of a stretch.

I enjoyed the book but the title doesn't fit until past the halfway mark. The main characters are pretty well-developed. The story flowed well and kept my interest. I enjoyed the setting as it is close to where my in-laws live so I know the scenery quite well. The story kept my interest and the editing was well done. Very few editing errors, a missing word once or twice.

What I did not like was the way the chapters started. The large, beginning letter was not aligned well at all and covered a word below it and made it hard to read that sentence. I also did not like the fact of combining Christianity and the ability to be a seer.

Overall I give this a resounding 4 out of 5-stars. I was gifted this book through Revell Reads. I am not required to give a positive review and all thoughts are my own.
